Joined crew during overhaul/conversion in Portsmouth Naval Shipyard,
Trials, DASO, patrol from Charleston to Holy Loch 1978.
I met up with Master Chief Russell (COB) when the boat was being cut
Charleston Naval Shipyard. I see Ernie Tayao from time to time
I have some good stories about Newman's dog, Boo-Boo Barker, Lt. "Brother"
Strother, and admiral Rickover's midnight snacks on the barge in Portsmouth.

To Whom It May Be Concerned:
I am trying to put together some navy stories and pictures into a book
for my dad,
Richard Marchbanks (EM on the USS Henry Clay... late 1960's and early
for his birthday. I was hoping that maybe someone who knew him could
know some of the funny things that happened while at sea (or not at
you all went, "responsibilities" (as in, "responsibilities include
eating a lot of food"),
real responsibilities, strangest/scariest/most uncomfortable part about
being at sea/on
a submarine, etc that he would remember/that happened while he was
there. I'd like to
learn a lot more about my dad when he was about my current age from
point of view. I think he'd really appreciate having something
with all the stories/pictures
from his crew mates/friends. And, I would really appreciate being
able to know more
about my dad.
Thank you for your time!
